LAKE OSWEGO

RESIDENCE

LAKE OSWEGO RESIDENCE, Portland, OR

There was lots of room for design growth when my client's purchased this 7,500 square foot home. The lower level room that opens to the pool and out door- kitchen has become the billiard room complete with bar. Installing hardwood floors, a copper ceiling and  wrapping the columns and bar in Birdseye maple, and adding mirror, really sets the stage for serious fun!  Rich moldings and trim dress up the columns and add much needed architectural interest to the existing sheet rock columns. Notice the open entry way is trimmed in the same wood detail. Stained glass lighting and custom colored pool table, finish off the party atmosphere. Towards the left back area of the billiard room you can see the entrance to the wine room.

To create a wine room, excavation was in order. As you enter the hallway connecting the two rooms you'll notice a gradual decline. I created lighted niches that house a sculpture and prized cognacs for added visual interest. The  arched red colored venetian plaster and gold stenciled ceiling is a real show stopper. I used the same color on the chairs and had a live edge coffee table made and used hand forged light fixtures to give it an organic, relaxed feel. The marble and inlaid “wood” tile set on a diagonal is just what this small intimate space needed. Adding the back- lite stained glass window fools that eye. You'd never know you were below ground!

The master bath needed an update. It was lovely before with a built in Jacuzzi and travertine tile but the owners wanted a steam shower. So we updated with a freestanding tub made of one piece of marble. (We reinforced the floors to support it.) The new marble floors with inlaid design and fresh sparking light fixture and window treatments gives this bath a spa like appeal.

Yellow , blue and lime outdoor furniture and rugs, azure blue countertops and apple green draperies reflect the young family and friends that enjoys hours of summertime fun in this outdoor kitchen and infinity pool. There is also an upper deck kitchen with more subtle adult autumn colors. This home now has the owners unique thumbprint. With all of these newly designed spaces, they have truly made this home their own.
